Well if I hadn't seen the game I wouldn't have seen Rice's performance and therefore wouldn't be able to gauge how shit Haller was.

Or is that too logical for you, you fucking nonce?

Thankfully other people have furnished me with the information I required so you can get back to your online grooming or whatever you do out there in your hideout.

Two observations from me: although Yarma can be infuriating (one daft flick that didn’t come off and saw them break on us) the flick into the box which led to the goal would not have occurred to Bowen had he been in that position. He still makes too many wrong choices and needs to add variety to his creative contribution.
Second: don’t rush Antonio back. As noted by earlier poster, he’s far from match fit and needs to be an impact sub for a run of games. This means, for now, persevering with Haller up front and hope he delivers...something.

Benrahma should be judged when he’s played off a forward who can actually run and treat a ball like it’s not a fucking balloon

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread
I thought Benrahma showed he has tricky feet, even if not a lot came off beyond the halfway line.

However, that in itself is a bit of concern, as it points towards Masuaku disease - trying risky dribbles in defensive areas. I think those all come off, though I suspect he only just got away with a couple.

On Dawson I did wonder if he had perhaps somehow did a nasty to his wedding tackle which was why he appeared dead and then after a rest returned seemingly fine.

I got the impression that Benrahma struggled with the heavily watered pitch. A few passes he made were a little short and got intercepted.

He'll come good, I'm sure of it,

If we can get Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, Alphonso Davies and Harry Kane in for January we’d be laughing.

Haller didn't do much wrong.

Haller didn't do much.

Both true.

Today we did the hard job and credit for a solid defensive performance and a smash and grab away victory.

Now, there are two or three of what one might consider easier fixtures coming up, and impressive as victory at Everton can be considered in the context of their season so far, It won’t mean much if we don’t take advantage and win those games that on paper we should be winning easily. I’m sure Everton may have been thinking the same before today’s game. We have to get it right in ALL games to move forward.

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread
I was pleased to see such a solid performance against a team towards the top of the table, even if the game lacked incident. Benrahma and Haller alternated in making it difficult for their back two to play out via Tom Davies, with Benrahma in particular making a nuisance of himself. In previous games we have not defended from the front successfully, tending to take it in turns to press. Haller's contribution was better today but still not enough to stop my heart sinking when he gets the ball (a similar feeling to that inspired many years ago by David Kelly, a player who failed at whatever he tried to do for us). Fornals was busy but if I was the opposition manager I would target him because he frequently loses track of his player in one twos on our left. Other than that I agree with the general consensus about Ogbonna, Coufal, Rice.
That Dawson bit was weird though. Looked as if he'd just woken up from a bad dream to find he was playing for West Ham in the Premiership and had to have a lie down.

The difference that even a half-powered Antonio made when he came on was really noticeable. His movement kept the Everton defence occupied and instantly gave our midfield more options.
It wasn't Haller's worst game for us I guess, but part of the reason he doesn't get service is that he doesn't make himself available, is too slow to make space.

great result and a decent second half performance.

Haller should never be allowed pull on a West Ham shirt again.

If we had taken more of our chances in previous games we would be 3 or 4 places up the table. I agree with FCJ Bowen and Fornals hold on the ball too much

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread
I didn't think Haller had an awful game at all. Yet again I saw him frustrated that he got in space or made runs and was ignored. He laid the ball off well at times and perhaps we should have made better use of that around the box. If he was stronger he may have got past his marker and on the end of the ball that fizzed across the front of goal.

Bowen and Fornals very guilty of taking too many touches, delaying a pass or wasting opportunities to play people in. Thought Benrahma worked hard but gave away the ball repeatedly and didn't thread a pass which is disappointing since his vision and ability to keep the ball were big attributes of his game in the Championship.

The back 4 was rarely troubled which surprised me against a usually effective Everton attack.
The pick of the defence were Coufal who drives the team forward as well as being a really good defender and Ogbonna who is very strong and consistent. Even his covering for Cresswell was spot on.

Antonio got a few more minutes but for me doesn't look anything like the player who finished last season yet. No doubt being eased back in but I hope he will be back to his previous self by the next few matches as we need more of a goal threat.

When your team beats another decent team away from home and keeps a clean sheet, you have to give them all credit. The organisation and workrate was good and so was our fitness. I thought we might struggle with that side of things.

Good start to the New Year.

Quite.
A friend of mine who follows the Bundesliga a lot (he used to live in Germany) is amazed we don't play Haller as a second striker which is where he flourished at Frankfurt. OK we haven't really haven't had an out and out first choice striker much since he has joined and he should be doing better job at his non favoured position. Antonio (and Arnautovic before him) have been revelations.

You asked if Haller was appalling! I said he was as bad as Rice was brilliant. Why is that pointless ?

Oh didn’t you say Rice was shit a while ago? Surely someone so knowledgeable about football as you couldn’t be wrong could they?
